Leila Khaleghipour is a dedicated and passionate researcher with a strong background in Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, with more than 5 years hands-on experience in wet laboratory research in the field of chemistry, biotechnology and engineering, and over 10 years of experience in conducting research projects as a research manager. Her research focus on the biomass and valorization of agricultural wastes into value- added materials e.g prebiotic xylo-oligosaccharides (XOS), biodegradable plastics and biofuels and reflects her commitment to sustainability and environmental consciousness.
Her expertise encompasses Chemical characterization and Biomass Analysis ( cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin, ash, protein, extractives, acetyl and uronic acid) Biomass Pretreatment methods (Thermochemical, pressurized liquid extraction, alkali), Extraction and Purification of Cellulose and Hemicellulose (Xylan), and Production of Xylo-oligosaccharides.
She has been a Postdoctoral Researcher at Lund University in Sweden contributed significantly to an EU funded project (EnXylaScope project) focused on the novel enzymes for debranching hemicellulose, unleashing Xylan’s potential for application in consumer products.
In addition to her impressive academic qualifications and research accomplishments, Leila possesses a diverse skill set, including proficiency in Analytical Techniques such as, High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC, HPAEC-PAD) for measuring mono and oligosaccharides, Size Exclusion Chromatography, Fermentation, Experimental Eesign (MODDE), Enzymatic Reactions, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Freeze Drying and Dialysis. Her experience also extends to the transformation and expression of recombinant proteins, SDS-PAGE (polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis) analysis, protein purification and Enzyme Characterization. She has a proven track record of conducting scientific documentation and writing.
Her role as a Senior Research Manager at the Grain Research Center in Tehran, brings to the table over 10 years of experience in research management and project leadership. Her strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and ability to evaluate research proposals have been instrumental in the successful execution of research initiatives.
Throughout her career, Leila has thrived in international and multidisciplinary environments, displaying the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Her self-motivated and enthusiastic nature, coupled with a positive attitude towards continuous growth and learning, positions her as a dynamic and valuable contributor to any research or innovation-driven organization.
Leila Khaleghipour's holistic expertise, scientific acumen, and commitment to sustainable biotechnology make her an exceptional asset for any organization seeking to advance in the bioplastic industry. Her dedication to research innovation and her proven ability to navigate the complexities of multidisciplinary projects make her an ideal collaborator for forward-thinking companies like Terramer Inc.
